This paper presents the results of a study of the decomposition of complex information systems necessary to reduce the complexity of the artifact to be implemented. In the field of software systems development, various studies have been conducted to analyze the decomposition process and to perform quantitative evaluations of decomposition results. However, the „divide and conquer“ methods used in the development of application systems cannot be directly applied to decompose complex information systems, measure the appropriateness of decomposition and compare it with other alternatives. The proposed decomposition card method, which involves the evaluation of decomposition in terms of quantitative attributes, is characterized as hierarchical and does not make specific technical decisions at a high level of abstraction. The obtained results create preconditions for further research. |
