Abstract [eng] Liquid crystals are the materials which in liquid phase have a structural order similar to crystalline materials. Usually discotic liquid crystal molecules form columnar structure in liquid crystal phase, so high charge carrier mobility could be expected. Charge carrier movement is limited in one direction and not allowed between adjacent columns. In this work, six different structures of hexapentyloxytriphenylene were investigated. It was found that TpH in liquid crystal phase both electrons and holes are moving. Charge carriers mobility in this phase remain constant even in high temperatures. TpOx-Ph electron mobility is constant, however hole mobility values increase as the temperature increases. In liquid crystal phase TpOx-1-Nap and TpOx-2-Nap are electron and hole transport materials respectively. It was also noticed that in TpOx-Ph-m-CF3 molecular rearrangement is very slow and charge carrier mobility values show dependence vs temperature due to thermally activated hopping in the structure. Better investigation of these new materials will help us apply them for new optoelectronic devices and imaging applications.
