Abstract [eng] |
As one of the solutions to resource the needs of an aging population is the encouragement of individuals to stay in the labor market for longer, avoiding labor shortages for employers, providing employees with bigger income in old age, and helping to ensure the financial stability of pension and health systems. The purpose of this thesis is to identify push-and-pull-factors determining pre-retirement and post-retirement employment in Lithuania by applying survival and binary response models. This thesis is the first study on key influencing factors of pre-retirement and post-retirement employment in Lithuania using State social insurance fund budget administrative data. This study uses unique micro-data to treat the majority of population, not a sample, as is the case in most other studies. The analyzed factors are grouped into push and pull factors of employment in old age in Lithuania. As a result, recommendations for policy makers are provided how to improve the employment of older people in Lithuania. |
