Abstract [eng] |
As financial markets change and the concept of alternative finance becomes more widespread, more competition between banking and non-banking funding is beginning to emerge. As businesses increasingly suffer from a lack of bank financing, alternative finance, such as crowdfunding, fills the market with the finance needed. The aim of this work – to analyze projects published on the Kickstarter crowdfunding platform and assess what factors influence successful project funding. The objectives of this work - In order to achieve the goal of the work, the following tasks were formed: 1. To reveal the concept and types of crowdfunding after reviewing the academic literature and to review the most well-known crowdfunding platforms and their features. 2. After analyzing different Lithuanian and foreign studies, to identify possible factors for the success of crowdfunding projects. 3. To form a methodology for the analysis of the success factors of crowdfunding projects in the Kickstarter platform. 4. Perform a statistical analysis of the success factors of crowdfunding on the Kickstarter platform and identify the determinants of project success. 5. Formulate work conclusions and prepare proposals for Kickstarter stakeholders in the crowdfunding platform Research carried out and results obtained. A statistical analysis of the data was performed to elucidate the impact of different factors on the level of project funding. The research was carried out in three stages - analysis of successful and unsuccessful projects, analysis of successful projects, analysis of very successful projects. Comparing the results of the studies in all three phases, both similarities and differences between the variables found were observed at different phases of the study. The distinction made between successful and highly successful projects has further highlighted the phenomenon of highly successful projects. Main conclusions. Taking into account all three stages of the study, we can state that the following factors for the success of crowdfunding projects have a statistically significant relationship with the purpose of project funding: number of photos and videos in the project description, project risk profile size, project developer experience on the platform, the number of project sponsors, the number of updates on the progress of the project, the involvement of the project developer in the financing of other projects and the size of the description of the sustainability section of the project. |
