Abstract [eng] |
Women's Authorship in the Literature of the Mid-19th-Century Lithuania: G. Giunterytė-Puzinienė, K. Praniauskaitė The work examines the issue of authorship of Gabrielė Giunterytė-Puzinienė and Karolina Praniauskaitė, one of the first Lithuanian women writers. According to sociocritical access, feministic approach and the theory of authorship, the following aspects of authorship are discussed: early biographical context, conditions of literary debuts, relationship with literary tribe, relationship with romantic concept of authorship in autotemical writing, and relationship between women‘s authorship and women‘s identity. Sources that provide information about the author's self-awareness, relations with other representatives of the literary field, representation of women‘s authorship are examined: G. Giunterytė-Puzinienė's poetry from the collections W imie Boże, 1843, W imię Boże - dalej w świat! , 1859, Dzieci litewskie, ich słówka, odpowiedzi, postrzeżenia, 1847, 1856, prose from the collections Małe a prawdziwe opowiadania, 1857, Prozą i wierszem, 1856, 1857, historical drama Jadwiga. Dramat historyczny z XIV w. W 5 aktach i 6 odsłonach, 1870, 1886, memories W Wilnie iw dworach litewskich: Pamiętnik z lat 1815–1843, published 1928, K. Praniauskaitė's poem Festyna Wielkiej Kalwaryi na Żmudzi, 1856, poetry from the collection Piosneczki 1858. When analyzing the works of the mentioned authors, the research examines how the women who came to the literature in the middle of the 19th century sought to discover their place in the field of literature: women's activities were primarily driven by the usual expectations of living in a private home space: upholding morality, caring for upbringing and nurturing faith. The woman who chose the literary activity went out in public, and thus had to reconcile her presence in public with the usual expectations of a woman's life. The problem of this work is the features of the women‘s authorship: the definition of the place in the field of literature, specific choices of topics and genre, the relationship with the literary tribe. The research of the development of women's authorship will take into account the relationship with the romantic concept of the author in the Lithuanian field of literature at that time. The study reveals the problematic women‘s entrance in literature in the 19th century Lithuania: the risks for which the role of the mediator was particularly important, the expectations of the environment for a woman's public activities. Women's authorship reveals the reflections of this problem in their work: first of all, in the limited choice of genres - both authors did not leave works of a larger form, they included a number of religious lyrics in their first collections of poetry. In addition, textual communication with other participants in the field of literature reflects an effort to make contact with the authorities in the field of literature by dedicating texts to them, but does not dare to compare them in terms of talent. Nevertheless, the Christian worldview in this case works liberatingly: God-inspired taleent allows writing women to legitimize their authorship, in K. Praniauskaitė's case it also acts as a basis for the formation of creative youth community connected by spiritual kinship. |
