Abstract [eng] |
The dissertation presents the 13th-17th century jewellery in Vilnius based on archaeological data: sites related to the processing of non-ferrous metals, jewellers’ working tools (crucibles, casting moulds, etc.) and ornaments (earrings, necklaces, brooches, pins, bracelets, rings, decorative ornaments, etc.). The archaeological data were complemented by laboratory research outcomes, which provided insights into the materials used in jewellery (metal alloys, solders, enamel, niello, gemstones, rocks and stones), technologies, import and local production, while juxtaposition of the historical and archaeological data provided an insight into jewellery from different aspects. |
