Abstract [eng] |
This thesis examines the development of the field of philosophy in Soviet Lithuania, focusing on the formation and development of the most important academic institutions of philosophy. This main research thread is complemented by an analysis of the transformations of philosophical discourse and the identification of the most important actors in the academic field of philosophy. The dissertation examines the relationship between philosophy and ideology, both at the conceptual level and in practice, as well as the attempts to turn philosophy into an ideological discipline, the various mechanisms of control and censorship, and the emergence and development of different conceptions and trends in philosophy during the late Soviet era, which took place sometimes in response to, and sometimes despite, ideological and institutional pressure. Using archival sources, historiography, and memoirs of participants in the field of philosophy, the paper attempts to illustrate the most general tendencies of the development of philosophy in Soviet Lithuania through several different thematic cross-sections, highlighting the most important transformative processes and axial events. |
