Protected areas in Lithuania are established for the protection of natural and man-made complexes and objects, landscape diversity, performance of scientific research and for the monitoring of the environment. The cultural landscapes of state parks represent the diversity of the interaction between man and the natural environment. Just like the entirety of Lithuania, the landscape of state parks is experiencing various tendencies of change. A detailed analysis of natural and social processes, factors of influence, and the scale and consequences of it will determine the change as a whole of cultural landscape. To develop the concept of cultural landscape development in state parks, it is necessary to assess the factors influencing the landscape: the abundance of visitors, physical or aesthetic comfort, the harmony between the architecture and the environment, and the level of protection of tangible and intangible heritage. |
