This paper examines the features of the functioning of historical analogies in the public space in the context of the 2020 Belarusian protests. Historical analogies are studied using a content analysis model, using a literature-based coding mechanism. An overview of the research literature on historical analogies is presented, the bases of the choice of historical analogies are distinguished, and the functions of thinking and acting in public space are performed. In the empirical part, the research object is coded through 4 essential parameters. The research model is applied in the analysis of the speeches of Lithuanian political representatives and opinion leaders in two selected online media. The study period covers 2020. August 9 - in 2020 August 30 published articles on the research topic. |
