| Abstract [eng] |
This study aims to improve the structural understanding of the sedimentary cover near the vicinity of the Gargždai Elevation, which is in the Gargždai and Klaipėda License Areas, Western Lithuania, by using the recently acquired and yet unpublished 3D and 2D seismic data. For the first time, the recently acquired 3D and 2D seismic data are included into one seismic interpretation, which covers the Gargždai, Klaipėda, and in part Rietavas License Areas in Western Lithuania. This study demonstrates that the Gargždai Fault is discontinuous, and it does not terminate at the Telšiai Fault. The Precambrian crystalline basement surface is analyzed in relation to the sub-Cambrian peneplain; an inselberg array is mapped in the southeastern part of the study area. A structure of the cross-fault type, Agluonėnai, is distinguished in the Gargždai Elevation. The seismic expression of Permian reefs is presented on a carbonate platform near the edge of the Zechstein evaporite basin. |
