Abstract [eng] The Work analyses specifics of the work of beauty therapists, the concept of disorders of the support-movement apparatus during work, health threats and aspects of prophylaxis. Hypothesis – it is credible that beauty therapists encounter different disorders of the support – movement apparatus in their working environment, there is a possibility of applying preventive aids linked with the encouragement of the physical activity within their working environment, their application positively affects these disorders. A survey was organised on methods of questionnaire, consecutive sampling and content analysis, the aim of which was to assess disorders of the support – movement apparatus and to define their prevention within the working environment of a beauty therapist. Statistical (descriptive) data analysis was implemented. Empirical part analyses spread and reasons for disorders of the support-movement apparatus within the working environment of a beauty therapist, need for the preventive activities as well as possibilities and their effectiveness. On the base of empiric survey data, recommendations for applying preventive aids are presented. The main conclusions of the empiric survey: 1. Beauty therapists in Lithuania encounter disorders of the support movement apparatus within their working environment as well as biomechanical risk. Specialists expressed a wish to get recommendations for the prophylaxis of the mentioned disorders in work and would eagerly participate in different forms of physical activity, but not within the working environment. The main obstacles for the physical activeness at work is the lack of time and special premises. 2. Upon application of exercise in work, the respondents subjectively assessed their health and physical activeness better than prior application of the aid. The survey data indicated that exercises improved the physical state, because the majority of respondents revealed that their pain, tension and tiredness decreased after exercises (subjective feeling). 3. Hypothesis, stating that it is credible that there is a possibility of applying preventive aids linked with the encouragement of the physical activity within their working environment and their application positively affects these disorders was partially confirmed. The majority of respondents would wish to apply prophylaxis aids, but not within their working environment, because they do not have premises for the implementation of physical activities; however there is a possibility of applying exercises that positively affect health and physical activeness.
