Diamond tool durability is a capacity to maintain a sharp cutting edge for a certain period of time and to ensure the quality of a processed surface. In order to select optimal cutting modes and tools, the main factors affecting the process should be set. Observation of wood processing with diamond tools in manufacturing company helped to determine the main factors causing diamond plates wearing and affecting their durability. Based on the results of the research, it was determined that: • Cutting quality depends of the accuracy with which the cutting tool was made, also on materials of bodies used in manufacturing and materials of cutting parts as well as cutting angles, cutting strips, movements formation and tidiness of the tool; • The tool wearing is caused by the force acting during the cutting, temperature during the cutting and vibrations that occur due to the imbalance of the tool; • The tool loses his cutting characteristics because of wearing and crumbling of cutting edges. |
