Abstract [eng] The aim of research work: To investigate the effects of different physiotherapy methods on premature babies' growth and development. Research question: What is the effect of different physiotherapy methods on premature infants' growth and development? Tasks of work: 1. To evaluate physiotherapy methods that have an effect on premature infant development. 2. To evaluate physiotherapy methods that have an effect on premature infant growth. Materials and methods: The systematic review was conducted using PubMed database. The search was performed according to the PICO methodology, and the selection of articles was based on the requirements of PRISMA. Studies that were as old as 6 years (2015–2021) were searched. The results of the applied intervention were evaluated with significance– α= 0.05 and the effect size– Cohen d. Qualitative evaluation was performed with the Rob 2 instrument. Selection Criteria: Premature infant population (gestational age 22–37 weeks); One of the selected methods is used: physiotherapy, hydrotherapy, position therapy, Vojta therapy, Bobath therapy, massage, family physiotherapy; The results provide a developmental test score or a change in height and weight of a premature infant. Physiotherapy is applied during the first two years of life; The period of scientific articles/publications is 2015–2021; Articles is in English. Results: This systematic review includes 16 publications that investigated the effects of physiotherapy methods on premature infant development and growth. In 15 of the 16 publications, interventions were initiated before the preterm infant was 37 weeks of age. Also, the majority of interventions (13 out of 16) were short–term, ranging from 5 days to a month. The analysis revealed that physiotherapy methods only have an effect on motor development. Bobath therapy had the sole and greatest effect (p< 0.05; d= 2.417). The methods of physiotherapy that stimulate the growth of premature infants are Bobath therapy and different massage methods– simple massage, massage with oil, and tactile and kinesthetic stimulation (p< 0.05). Simple massage has the greatest effect on weight (d= 68,149). Tactile and kinesthetic stimulation have the greatest effect on height (d= 1,346). Conclusions: The physiotherapy method that affects the motor development of preterm infants is Bobath. Methods that have an effect on preterm infant growth are Bobath therapy and various massage methods– simple massage, massage with oil, and tactile and kinesthetic stimulation.
