Abstract [eng] The aim of research work: To evaluate the effectiveness of dance therapy for motor and cognitive functions in patients with Parkinson‘s disease by analysing published scientific research papers. Tasks of work: 1. To analyse the effectiveness of dance therapy on motor and cognitive functions in patients with Parkinson‘s disease. 2. To compare the effectiveness of dance therapy and other interventions on motor and cognitive functions in patients with Parkinson‘s disease. Materials and methods: A systematic review was conducted using PubMed, Web of Science, MEDLINE via EBSCOhost, APA PsycInfo via EBSCOhost, and APA PsycArticles via EBSCOhost databases. Randomized controlled trials of dance therapy interventions in patients with Parkinson‘s disease, published in English-language, were considered for inclusion in the study. Original research articles published between 2011 to 2021 were selected. Data were analysed using descriptive qualitative data analysis. Results: 1240 articles were discovered by the search strategy. Using the inclusion and exclusion criteria, ten studies were included in the systematic review. In seven of the ten studies, the effectiveness of dance therapy for motor function was reported. Motor symptoms, balance, and functional mobility all showed statistically significant improvement (p>0,05). Four of the ten studies investigated the efficacy of dance therapy in enhancing cognitive function. There was a statistically significant improvement in executive functions. Conclusions: 1. Ten studies examining the efficacy of dance therapy were included in the systematic review, and their findings show that dance therapy may be an alternative form of physical activity. Patients with Parkinson's disease can safely and effectively improve their motor and cognitive functions through dance therapy. 2. Depending on the type of intervention, the effectiveness of dance therapy and other interventions on the motor and cognitive functions of Parkinson's disease patients varies. Dance therapy is more effective than other interventions at enhancing motor functions, particularly balance and functional mobility. There are insufficient data on the effectiveness of dance therapy for cognitive function comparisons with other interventions.
