Abstract [eng] When Lithuania became the member of the European Union, big attention was focused to improve infrastructure in protected areas, environmental schools’ and educational centers’ establishment. There were established natural schools, prepared methodical publications with educational tasks for active natural cognition by the initiation of national protected areas service in help with EU structure funds. Natural schools provide an opportunity to be in nature, watch the animals, plants, natural phenomena, to know the values, to learn responsible behavior with nature. This is how cooperation between protected areas and general education school are promoted. But this process is not smooth, only the little piece of schools’ are cooperating with protected natural areas. And if this activity take place, it mostly can be seen in events, project time. It is also a big part of the schools’ which don not promote pupils' interest in science education, and still promote learning in the classroom, rather than the other learning areas.
