Abstract [eng] Evaluation of the Nature of Work and Attitude Towards the Patient of the Staff of Centers for Addictive Disorders. The relevance of the study. Low job satisfaction can lead to poor quality of service, weak communication and / or co-operation relations, hostility, inadvertence, bad health and depression. The centre for addictive disorders staff‘s attitude towards their work also have an impact on both patients' motivation in the treatment of disease and the quality of service. The aim of the research is to find out the nature of work and attitude towards the patient of the staff of centers for addictive disorders (CAD). The research objectives include the following: 1) to evaluate the nature of work of the CAD staff; 2) to evaluate the approach to the work in CAD 3) to evaluate the CAD staff‘s attitude towards the patient. The methods. The research was carried out in Vilnius, Klaipėda, Šiauliai, Panevėžys CADs. 126 respondents were anonymously surveyed. The questionnaire was comprised of 43 questions. In order to find out the statistical relevance of qualitative data differences, the criteria of Pearson’s χ² tests as well as Fisher’s exact test were used. The factors relationship was measured by the logistic regression method. For a revelance for ordinal variables Spirman correlation coefficient was used. Differences between groups in an ordinal scale were evaluated with Man-Whitney test. Analysis of variance (ANOVA) was also applied, as a post hoc evaluation LSD criteria was taken. The level of statistical relevance used: α=0,05. The results were considered statistically relevant when p ≤ α. The results of research. The research showed that 80 % of the respondents are satisfied with the position they hold (the statistical difference was found between Vilnius and Klaipeda centers (p = 0.006)). 97.6 % of the respondents try to work well, 75.4 % find their work interesting. 74.6 % of the respondents agree that they have an opportunity to improve their qualifications. Next, the lack of doctors (56.3 %.) and nurses (36.5 %.) was noticed. Therefore, a correlation between a stress in a work pace and overtime working was found (rs = 1.77; p = 0.049). 68 % of the respondents believe that their salary does not complies with the duties performed. 45.9 % of the respondents, who would change their work for higher wages, currently have a monthly income of 321-420 EUR (P = 0.186; U = 1.040). Only 31.4 % Klaipeda and 54,1% Vilnius employees have never experienced violence from patients (p = 0.144, U = 1689.5). The most commonly experienced violence was psychological – 70.6 percent. 23.8 % of the respondents are disgusted by the patients, as the latter cause negative emotions: 44 %. doctors, 35.3 % nurses aids, 21.8 % nurses and 11.8 % social workers (p = 0.068; U = 1112). The conclusions of research: 1) More than a half of respondents have experienced violence from patients. A quarter of the employees complain of excessive workload and a lack of staff members. A fifth part of the respondents say that they do not even have an opportunity to relax. The majority‘s opinion is that their salary does not correspond to the work carried out by them. 2) More than a half of the respondents are satisfied with the work done, but one-third indicated that if they had a chance, they would change a workplace. Not all respondents were aware of the position they hold and not all of them believed that their work is important. 3) One fifth of the respondents have a negative attitude against patients. Only a half of the respondents communicate with patients not only about the treatment, even if it doesn’t conflict with the center‘s rules and does not preclude treatment.
