Abstract [eng] According to governmental agreement, summer time has been introduced on the last Sunday of March every year since 2003; it is cancelled on the last Sunday of October at 4 o’clock in the morning turning the clock hand one hour back. The English were the first to introduce summer time during World War I; when they were short of fuel they decided to use the sun that cost free. This is how summer time has been introduced every year by turning the clock hand one hour ahead on the last Sunday of March at 2 o’clock in the morning. In autumn on the last Sunday of September at 3 o’clock the local time is introduced again. It is thought it allows people to act in the daylight longer and to save electric power. In 1995 the European Economic Commission of the United Nations Organization suggested governments to cancel summer time on the last Sunday of October, i.e. to extend the application of summer time one month. The government of the Republic of Lithuania evaluated the above-mentioned suggestion with the decision No. 262 “Due to the Application of Summer Time” (Zin., 1996, No. 18-478) in 22 02 1996, thus joining the unification of timing in Europe. The aim of my paper is to identify the change of the need of electricity power in the seasonal change of timing. The period of research is one week before and one week after the seasonal change of timing. The main goals are to identify the change of needs of electric power for consumers according to groups, the analysis of load charts. The methods of research. General scientific methods of systematic analysis and comparative methods were used in the Master’s paper. The loads of electric power were analyzed using the comparative method. The data that were collected in the stock company were used in the research.
