A rendering of an author’s style translating literary works is a crucial problem, because not only a content of sentences, but also its structural parts, stylistic devices and phonetic expressive means should be regarded as they are inseparable parts of style. This issue is of major relevance, therefore we have chosen it for our research. The aim of the research is to investigate the rendering of Frank McCourt’s style in the Lithuanian translation of Angela’s Ashes. To achieve this aim the following objectives have been set: 1) to define the concepts of the author’s style; 2) to describe and analyse peculiarities of Frank McCourt’s style; 3) to analyse and exemplify translation of the author’s style in the Lithuanian translation of Angela’s Ashes. We presume that our research and data collected for it might be useful for those who are dealing with translation studies, also for translators of literary works. |
