Abstract [eng] The 11th revision of the International Classification of Diseases (ICD-11) includes a new diagnosis of complex posttraumatic stress disorder (CPTSD) which encompasses symptoms of posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and disturbances in self-organization (DSO). As CPTSD is a new diagnostic category, there is a significant lack of valid tools for the clinical assessment of CPTSD symptoms. A semi-structured International Trauma Interview (ITI) is a promising novel tool for the thorough clinical assessment of a new diagnostic category of complex PTSD that could be used in everyday clinical practice and research. Studies in different countries and samples are highly needed for the investigation of the validity of the ITI. In this symposium, an overview of the development of the ITI, as well as results from validation studies in different countries and samples will be presented. We will also discuss some challenges associated with administering the ITI interview in various settings.
