Abstract [eng] Aim of the MA thesis was to study organizational culture formation aspects in hotels of Alytus. Through the analysis of foreign and Lithuanian theoretical literature the essence, functions, types, models and levels of organizational culture are discussed. The thesis outlines manager’s role in the process of forming and changing organizational culture. It also explains interrelations between organizational culture and organizational climate. Results of the study have shown there is no dominant cultural type in hotels of Alytus. In most cases clan and market culture types prevail. However, traces of other cultural types have also been observed. The study reveals management intentions of “Odė” and “Vaidila” hotels to change organizational culture from adhocratic to market-type. K. S. Cameron’s and R. E. Quinn’s methodologies have been employed for the study. Based on results of the study managers can identify type of organizational culture and strengthen it using the offered methods or reform to another type to achieve better results of activity.
