After Lithuania regained its independence and transitioned from a planned economy to a market economy, it joined the European Union in 2004. Taking those reasons into account and aiming to create a strong response to 2008’s economic crisis, the supervision of the activities of economic entities underwent a period of transformation. This transformation was manifested by a change in the dominant deterrent approach and purpose of supervision of economic entities. The doctoral dissertation "Supervision of the Activities of Economic Entities in Lithuanian Public Administration" comprehensively and systematically analyses the supervision of the activities of economic entities in the field of Lithuanian public administration. It examines the legal regulation of this supervision and the practise of its application. This research clarifies essential features, such as the main principles of business supervision, the competence and duties of the supervisory subjects, provisions regarding the addressee of supervision, the main functions of supervision, and the basic procedural rights of economic entities. This analysis reveals the peculiarities of supervision and the problems arising in this field of public administration. The research uncovers the changes that have taken place in the legal regulation of business supervision, how they manifest themselves, and the legal measures through which they are implemented. |
