Informal education is an activity of developing a conscious personality, who is able responsibly and in creative manner solve ones problems, be active participating in social life as well as developing young person’s social competences (Conception of Youth Education, 1992; The Law on politics basics of the Youth, 2003; Conception of Informal Children’s Education, 2005). Organizing of proper informal education is very important in teacher’s activity. More and more often indirect educational management, in the stage of which pupils become organizers of their extracurricular activity, is emphasized: they bring and develop their own ideas, develop plans and implement them, evaluate their activity results. The object of the research: problems of organizing informal education in primary school. The aim: reveal the problems of organizing informal education in primary school. Objectives: 1. Review historical backgrounds of informal education development. 2. Review informal education system and its influence on developing personality. 3. Identify trends of informal education system improvement. 4. Find out pupils and teachers’ attitude towards extracurricular activity and participation in it. 5. Identify problems related to organizing of informal education. Methods of the research: analysis of science literature, survey based on questionnaire, quantitative and qualitative analysis of the research data. The scope of the research: 287 pupils and 93 teachers from 19 schools in various towns (Vilkaviškis, Šakiai, Kazlų Rūda, Marijampolė) and nearby villages in Lithuania participated in the research. After analysis of science literature and the research data, the following may be stated: 1. Extracurricular activity is recognized by both pupils and teachers. 2. Majority of pupils like participating in extracurricular activity organizing; the best results are reached when class master participates in it. 3. 57.2 % of pupils declare that parents and older pupils do not participate in extracurricular activity organizing. The fact is also recognized by teachers. 4. Pupils participate in various extra classes willingly, although, 4th form pupils are more welcome their. |
