Abstract [eng] Prediabetes and type II diabetes are among the most emerging diseases and assessing physical activity stands out as one of the most significant components for prevention. However, the use of activity trackers to assess physical activity is not currently regulated in family doctor's practice and is not regarded as a diagnostic method. This dissertation aims to analyse the evaluation of physical activity using wrist-worn activity trackers for prediabetes control in the family doctor practice. This study is the first of its kind, both in Lithuania and globally, examining the use of smart bracelets for prediabetes management. An interventional self-control study was conducted at the VUL SK Family Medicine Center. The study encompassed patients with impaired fasting glycemia. 30 subjects wore the Fitbit Inspire activity tracker for 6 months. At the beginning and the end of the study, blood tests were taken, body composition analysis was carried out, and participants completed the IPAQ long-form questionnaire. The study's outcomes demonstrated that smart bracelets offer reliable data regarding physical activity, thereby proving their potential for monitoring the physical activity of prediabetic patients within a family doctor's practice. Moreover, they are not only suited for objectively assessing changes in physical activity over time, but they also mirror the impact of physical activity variability on changes in body composition, lipid profile, and glycosylated haemoglobin.
