Abstract [eng] When thinking about the presence of Jews in medieval Europe, they are usually treated as one community. In fact, however, it was a community divided into several groups. One of these were Karaites who came into the territory of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania from the south, from the areas occupied by the followers of Islam. Their contacts with the Rabbinite Jews were far from harmonious. Nevertheless, they managed to gain acceptance for their differences in the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth and to establish a place for themselves within the community. Therefore, the subject of this chapter will be the development of narratives which helped Karaites to regulate relations with the Christians in the Grand Duchy of Lithuania.
