Abstract [eng] Understanding of human rights and duties and their awareness is a vital element in preparing the youth to live in democratic and pluralistic society. As socialization is most intensive in childhood and teenage, the school must provide favourable conditions to create the basis on education of the human rights. The aim of the research is to reveal pupils’ opinion towards the expression of child’s rights and duties at school. The review of pedagogical, psychological, management literature as well as law and education documents regulating child’s rights and duties and questionnaire survey are employed in the work. 265 pupils of two age groups: the pupils (of forms 6-7 and 10-11) studying at the schools of the city and villages participated in the research. The representations of the following types were analysed: the importance of child’s rights and duties and implementation of child’s rights and duties. The results of the research reveal that the most important pupils’ rights are the following: the right to education, the right to be healthy, the right to healthy and safe environment, the right to have proper living conditions. As the most important duties were mentioned the following ones: to respect the possessions of other people and not to break other people’s rights. Medical help for a sick child and the possibility to be with the people who love and care are best ensured. They are induced to respect all people not depending on their religion, race, material status and appearance. At school children lack emotional and physical safety, to get explanation what is right and bad and why one or another mark is given.
