Abstract [eng] Signature is a habitual combination of graphic signs usually written in quick tempo, with prudent movements, not withdrawing the hand. Some people tend to sign in a lengthy and sophisticated manner while others put a short and unintelligible signature. It is a matter of choice as there are no rules for creating signatures. Since everyone signs according to his or her handwriting style, each signature is unique. The research analyses the phenomenon of a signature in the following aspects: psychological and graphological. The analysis encompasses the history of the origin of the signature, the examination and characterisation of the signatures of famous personalities, various script signs and symbols as well as multifunctionality of the signature, which may render a plenty of visual and emotional information. The thesis includes clarification of psychological and emotional influence of a person on his or her signature as well as its visual, interpretational and creative manifestation. In addition, the paper explores the signature’s visualisation possibilities, examines theoretical sources and drafts textile compositions. The collection of textile compositions comprises three objects with separate titles “Signature of the Spouse”, “Signature of the Donor” and “Autographs”. As for the creative work, chenille and avalon techniques have been selected as best suited to express the main idea. The chenille technique helps to obtain desirable facture and colouring while avalon reinforces the relationship between calligraphy and hatch. Moreover, both chenille and avalon techniques complement each other. This paper is intended to encourage people to contemplate all the decisions confirmed by their signatures. The aim of this work is to disclose the importance and meaning of signatures in our lives.
