| Abstract [eng] |
This study focuses on the investigation of a transatlantic flight of S. Darius and S. Girėnas and its long-term aftermaths; it also explores the origins and nature of the powerfully invested narrative of the Lithuanian memory culture. The objective is: 1) to reconstruct the chronology and trace causal relationships of events; 2) to reveal the thematic diversity and complex problematics in the analyzed case and particularly emphasize the aspects of politics, ideology and law. A multi-method research strategy included empirical, analytical, interpretative and interdisciplinary approaches. Data was collected from various sources in Lithuania, Germany and the United States of America. |
