Current productions of remote protection are set for simplification of its construction and amplification of reliability. Despite some shortcomings, remote protection is the best protection from interleg short circuits in order to protect lines of high voltage and still remain with the proper and speedy functioning. It is successfully used as the main means of protection in lines of great and medium length. Considering the fact that microprocessor protection fails not so frequently as electromechanical one, it would be wise to substitute the old protection with the new one. The price of microprocessor protection exceeds the price of electromagnetic relay protection many times. However, the use of microprocessor protection ensures a much better protection of electro technical equipment. Of course, from the financial point of view, such reconstruction is not so quick to pay dividends, but the accidents may cost more. Taking in consideration the state of protective devices and other equipment while planning reconstruction succession, it is very important to decide upon the significance of substation in system, to measure the level of its equipment wear, approximate workload, safety, reliability and risk level. It is recommended to pay intensive attention to the attendant stuff, as a number of serious mistakes occur due to the lack of competence. While planning reconstruction in electric substations and implementing new microprocessor protection it is necessary to give proper instructions to the personnel (special courses). The personnel should get acquainted with the new changes. It is the only way to avoid mistakes that occur due to the human factor. |
