Abstract [eng] In her Master‘s thesis „Legal Regulation of Hunting Grounds“ the student introduces us to the development of legal regulation of hunting grounds in Lithuania from the times of the Great Duchy of Lithuania up to the present day. Historical part is divided into four stages; their development tendencies have been exhibited. The development of hunting and the development of legal regulation of hunting grounds are closely interrelated. There are no writings about the currently valid normative acts, regulating hunting and other relations associated with it, therefore, this work is the first step towards the investigation of existing situation. The Constitutional Court of the Republic of Lithuania on May 13th 2005 considered a case “Regarding Law on Hunting Paragraph 2 of Article 7, Paragraph 1, 9 and 10 of Article 8, Paragraph 2 of Article 13, Paragraph 2 of Article 13, Paragraph 7 of Article 18 and Paragraph 3, 6 and 7 of Article 22 compliance with the Constitution of the Republic of Lithuania” and made a ruling (“Valstybės žinios” No. 63-2235) by which some of the provisions of the Law on Hunting were acknowledged as contradicting the Constitution. The above mentioned provisions no longer exist in the Law on Hunting. It should be mentioned that in Articles 7, 8, 11, 13 and 22 of the Law of the Amendment of Law on Hunting No. 775, which has been adopted by the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania, but not signed by the President of the Republic of Lithuania are balanced not only state’s as wildlife owner’s rights, but also the rights of land proprietors as well as balance between public and private interests. The author expresses the suggestion that the loopholes of the Law on Hunting should be fine-tuned by the above mentioned Law on the Amendment of the Law on Hunting. The author also expresses the suggestion that seeking to improve legal regulation of hunting grounds it is necessary to incorporate all legal acts related to legal hunting regulation into the Law on Hunting.
