Abstract [eng] The aim: to investigate cancer incidence among medical radiation workers during 1978–2004 period. Cancer risk evaluation analysis among medical radiation workers (N = 2250) was done using the retrospective cohort method, an indirect standartization. The risk of cancer, and the dependence of cancer risk on occupational categories, the lenght of employment and cumulative dose have been evaluated. During the follow-up period the risk of cancer among medical radiation workers (among men SIR = 0.92, 95%CI = 0.62–1.33 and among women SIR = 0.97, 95%CI = 0.81–1.15) was the same as in general population. The risk of cancer among Lithuanian diagnostic radiology workers (SIR = 1.04, based on 111 cases) was the same as the risk in U.S. (SIR = 1.07, based on 2408 cases) and China (SIR = 1.02, based on 157 cases) cohorts of diagnostic radiology workers. The occupational exposure (average annual effective dose) among Lithuanian medical radiation workers from 1950 to 2004 years consistently decreased. With increasing lenght of employment 10 years and more and/or cumulated occupational exposure to ionizing radiation 100 mSv and more, there were indications of an increasing risk of leukemia among women. During 1978–2004 the risk of cancer among medical radiation workers was the same as in the general Lithuanian populiation.
