Abstract [eng] Ethnic culture is a unit of cultural values, which is created by nation, handed down from generation to generation and constantly renewed, conducive to a continuation of a national identity, self-awareness and an originality of ethnographical regions. In the past the society and family were transmiters of ethnic culture. Nowadays the institutions of education and culture are responsible for a nation culture conveyance. Kelme district includes a big experience of an ethnocultural life, its accumulation and propagation. Today it is necessary to study the etnocultural heritage of the land and to find out specific features which could help to educate the young generation in the embrace of our customs and traditions, not only at school but in the social life, too. This thesis is written on purpose to explore the peculiarities and traditions of ethnic culture education in Kelme district schools and the possibilities of practice the general ethnic culture programme, approved by the Education and Science Ministry in 2012, in schools. The object of the master thesis is the ethnocultural education singularity and its expression in Kelme district schools. The master‘s thesis consists of four parts. In the first part the ethnocultural root is discussed, the features of ethnocultural development are shortly described, the ethnocultural importance for an education is analysed and the laws which regulate the ethnocultural education are reviewed. In the second part the peculiarities of ethnocultural nurturance in Kelme district are researched. In the third part the root and main ideas of the general ethnic culture programme, approved by the Education and Science Ministry in 2012 and posibilities of its usage in music and other subjects and out-of-school activities are presented. The results of the research performed in Kelme district schools are presented. 94 teachers participated in the research. In the forth part the project of musical out-of-school activities is presented. The project is designed for pupils of 5th and 6th forms of Lioliai Basic School.
