Abstract [eng] |
Small wind turbines are valuable sources of renewable energy which can be built close to the point of use. This study has been done on small wind turbines analyzing their performances in different places. Methods of evaluation and testing performance of small wind turbines have brought some difficulties when applied to small wind velocity localities. These problems relate effect of small wind velocities on rotor performance and power generation for wind turbine evaluation. This research has analyzed the observed data of 1-kW, 3-kW and 5-kW small wind turbines. Wind speeds have been modeled using the Weibull distribution, knowing the scale and shape parameters for different locations. Knowing parameters and power curves of the wind turbines, the optimal wind turbine has been chosen. The main aim of this research was to choose the most efficient wind turbine design in low wind speeds and analyze its performance in chosen locality. |
