This master thesis analyzes the understanding of information (the text given in Lithuanian sign language, Signed Lithuanian, and the written text) by people with hearing impairments. The goal of the research is to assess the efficiency of understanding information, given in different ways. Deaf people (30 respondents), who use sign language as their main way of communication participated in the research. This research applied an interview method, which sought to reveal information of the anamnesis of the respondents, their ability to read the movements of speaking, their forms of linguistic communication, and their ability to understand the information contained in TV news. The understanding of the information was studied by modeling situations where the analogical complex text was given to the respondents in Lithuanian sign language, Signed Lithuanian, and written text. Texts were provided in gestures on video tape. |
