Abstract [eng] |
The intellectual capital has been gaining importance in the market due to its ability to create added value. However, according to the current accounting standards, only its minor part is presented in financial statements of enterprises as it usually fails to satisfy one of the criteria of asset recognition in accounting, namely, reliable evaluation. Consequently, the need arises for novel methods of evaluation allowing enterprises to define the value of their intellectual capital or its constituent parts. Considering this, the scientific issue has been formulated and dealt with in this dissertation: how to present information on the intellectual capital of an enterprise in financial statements? Various methods of the evaluation of the intellectual capital suggested in academic works have been researched. On the grounds of possibilities of their integration into the system of financial accounting, a generalized scheme of the classification of these methods has been drafted. A theoretically grounded and empirically verified model of intellectual capital evaluation and presentation in financial statements has been developed. Taking into consideration its successful application, this model is suggested to be included into financial accounting. The duty of enterprises to include data on the intellectual capital into financial statements should also be regulated. As a result, drafting and filling in of additional reports would be avoided, and external information users would obtain more data for their investment decisions. |
