Master's thesis is based on the analysis of scientific and technological potential development in Lithuania both in the context of European Union and globally. The conceptual part of this work characterizes the scientific-technological environment, also the factors which stimulates and interrupts science and technology development. The scientific and technological importance of socio-economic system and the environment with its international context is also analysed. The analytical part of this work provides the development of Lithuanian and EU-27 countries' research and funding tendencies and also the tendencies of human resources in the period of 2004-2008. As a result the indicators of innovativeness are evaluated presenting them by the international indexes and the scale of designed high-tech product, patenting and value-added indicators. The constructive part of the work presents the assessment of scientific and technological indicators development influence for the gross domestic product. The prognosis of high-tech export for the year 2010-2011 as well as GERD index is provided. After the analysis of science and technology funding potential and after the assessment of the results as well as indicating the size of high-tech product creation, the conclusion is made that of the work is concluded, that the Lithuanian scientific and technological potential depends on the cooperation between business and public sectors. Lithuania is still running after among the European Union countries so not all possibilities to increase the competitiveness of the country in the global economy is exhausted. |
