Abstract [eng] In Lithuania the number of children who had lost care of parents due to various reasons is constantly increasing. And they are growing in foster institutions which should perform very important family functions for (self) education of a child, and for maturation of personality, i.e. to form individual, responsible, willful personality, who is able to integrate him/herself successfully into open society. Both pedagogues and psychologists who had analyzed and researched the peculiarities of personality formation and behavior of pupils from children’s care institutions, declare that socialization of pupils from children’s homes who had left foster institution is complicated by various social and psychological factors. The aim of this thesis – to determine and analyze the socialization problems arising to the pupils of foster homes, and the reasons of them that impede child’s integration into society. Social phenomena having influence on child’s social integration, child’s socialization to society had been analyzed in Master thesis referring to Lithuanian and foreign scientific literature: psychological and social aspects, impact of competences on the process of socialization, and the socialization problems of pupils from children’s foster home, that impede integration to society. The research proves out the hypothesis being formed by the authoress that children growing in care institution imbibe the educated competences not enough and they are not able to integrate themselves successfully into society after they leave care institution. Key words: social integration, socialization, social competences.
