Abstract [eng] The use of fungicides is essential to protect cereals from various diseases. Accurate timing, considering climatic conditions, disease developement an other factors, of fungicide applications is very important in order to protect plants efficiently and also lowering application doses, thus reducing costs and negative environmental effects. In order to predict accurate timing of fungicide application, the computerised decision making system „PC Plant Protection“ was introduced in Lithuanian Institute of Agriculture, Lithuanian Agricultural Advisory Service and Lithuanian State Plant Protection Service. The aim of this study was to investigate the feasibility of predictive and preventive models of winter and spring wheat diseases using „PC Plant Protection“ to Lithuanian conditions. The differences in biological efficacy and levels of disease distribution on plants between standard fungicide application schemes and „PC PP“ recommended were compared. The results of the study revealed that in winter wheat there were no significant differences in effects between standard and „PC PP“ recommended application schemes. However, in spring wheat „PC PP“ recommended application schemes were significantly better than standard. These results indicate, that it is feasible to use „PC Plant Protection“ in Lithuanian conditions, thus implicating the possibility to use fungicides in lower doses than normally.
