Abstract [eng] SUMMARY Various contemporary mankind issues have been possible to solve nowadays employing rapidly evolving techniques of genetic engineering and biotechnology during the last decades(in medicine, pharmacy, food industry, agriculture, etc.). Brand new transgenic organisms, better known as genetically modifiedorganisms (GMOs) have been gained, employng genetic engineering methods. Biotechnoloy is based on manipulation with DNA outside the boundaries of a cell, therefore is considered as new and innovative type of technology, extracting selected genes from one organism and inserting them into other to make the required material or another organizm characteriezed by distinduished features. Modern biotechnology, in the best case of developing and applying appropriate safety measures for enviromnt and human health, provides excellent vast possibilities to enhance human welfare. Since all living modified organisms, irrespective to whether they are released into the environment in small (for the experimental purposes) amounts or huge (as commercial products) amounts are able to multiply and pass crossborders, thus their outspread throughout the world could be irreversible. Therefore the main criteria related to human health and environmental protection requires paying appropriate necessary attention for the safe use of GMOs and GNP and to the risk control proceduresduring their use for different human purposes. It is necessary to secure the safe development of genetically modified products derived from GMOs. At the same time it is important to determine concrete responsibilities of competrncies between the national administrative authorities and to develop single national system for GMOs and GMPs safe management, aproximating the relevant requirements of EU and other international.
