The Master's final thesis analyses the impact of financing on the efficiency of handling cases in district and regional courts of Lithuania. The purpose of this work is to summarize the scientific literature on financing of courts and its impact on efficiency thereto, to design an evaluation methodology and apply it to the case of district and regional courts of Lithuania. The first part of the paper defines the concept of the impact of funding on performance indicators. The analysis of scientific literature is carried out, the aim is to find out and present the factors affecting the performance indicators of the courts. The second part of the work presents the methodology for assessing the factors of the impact of funding on the efficiency of handling cases in district and regional courts of Lithuania. Evaluation model of the impact of funding on the effectiveness of handling cases is designed, the stages of creating an empirical model are detailed: justification of the sample and period of research, forming of the research hypotheses, discussion of the stages of the empirical research and assessment methods, and identification of the limitations of the research. The third part of the paper analyses the impact of funding on the efficiency of handling cases in district and regional courts of Lithuania, and distinguishes the factors with a greater impact in the period 2018–2022. After designing the evaluation model, an evaluation analysis of the impact of funding on the efficiency of handling cases in district and regional courts of Lithuania is carried out. The obtained results of the research revealed that due to the differences among district and regional courts of Lithuania, linear regression analysis is not possible within the considered period. District and regional courts of Lithuania differentiate both in terms of analysing funding for one judge and funding for one handled case. It has been confirmed that the highest correlation appears between the funding per handled case and cases assigned to one judge. |
