Abstract [eng] Restrictive measures are an increasingly popular tool of foreign policy, and economic sanctions are always present in the sphere of international trade. This work analyses the principles of international economic sanctions and the primary aspect of the impact these sanctions have on the contractual sphere of parties, it also highlights the differences between invalidity and impossibility of performance of contract affected by economic sanctions. The impact of economic sanctions is evaluated in conjunction with the fundamental pronouncements of courts and arbitral tribunals when deliberating on contracts affected by sanctions.
