Every country has territory, religion, culture and language, which have been determined by state laws and internal agreements. The state language is one of the factors which unites the citizens of the country; moreover, with the help of it people communicate: convey information, thoughts and emotions. The subject of the Master thesis is the analysis of Delfi.lt users’ attitude towards the Lithuanian language. The thesis researches Delfi.lt users’ preferences in choosing a language, the reasons for vulgarization, simplification and nurturance. Furthermore, it provides Internet users’ estimation of the usage of Lithuanian outside the Republic of Lithuania. Additionally, the thesis anatomizes Internet users’ attitude on the dialects of Lithuanian. The research reflects the comments of 292 Delfi.lt website users that offer different views on the Lithuanian language. Their comments fall into four sections: 1. Internet users’ judgment on standardization of Lithuanian; 2. Internet users’ attitude towards the dialects of Lithuanian; 3. Internet users’ predictions on the survival of Lithuanian in cyberspace; 4. Internet users’ position on active pervasion of Lithuanian outside Lithuania. The commentaries of the Internet users often concern not only the issue of the language but also the habitation conditions in the Republic of Lithuania. |
