Abstract [eng] |
The relevance of the problem and aim of the work. Regenerative endodontic treatment is one of the newest methods in this field. Its application in everyday endodontology is yet to be wide. Research results promise good treatment prognosis, so it is important for dentists to know not only the benefits of these procedures but also the necessary properties of the materials and stages used to perform such procedures. Therefore, the main purpose of the study is to assess the knowledge of dentists and students about the apexification procedure and application of regenerative endodontic treatment. Material and methods. After the literature analysis, an electronic questionnaire was created, doctors and students were asked to answer a series of questions. The anonymous questionnaire was published on the social network "Facebook" in the private groups of dentists. The questionnaire was also provided in an electronic version for students in the general course connection support and information-sharing groups. Statistical analysis was performed using the IBM SPSS 29.0 data analysis package. Data was analysed using descriptive statistical research and analysis of variance (ANOVA) method. The results were considered statistically significant if the obtained P value was lower than the threshold (P<0.05). Results. Mainly specialist dentists perform apexification. More than 90% of respondents know the biological properties of bioceramic fillings, and they need to become more familiar with the chemical and practical benefits of these materials. Most dentists and students cannot name all stages of regenerative endodontic treatment, only 13% of respondents could do that. Endodontists showed the best knowledge in the understanding of regenerative endodontics for the preservation of pulp tissue vitality. Conclusions. Specialists dentists have acquired more knowledge about apexification procedures and the application of regenerative endodontic treatment. Students feel the greatest need to deepen the understanding of these procedures. For teeth with formed root apices, classical root canal treatment is still more applicable than vital pulp therapy. |
