Abstract [eng] The aim of this article is to review the latest literature on the topic of non-invasive respiratory ventilation in Cardiac care unit. This work reviews the main methods of non-invasive ventilation, emphasizing their practical application in the Cardiac care unit. A literature review was performed using Pubmed and Google Scholar databases. The focus is on the literature of the last five years, but this work is based on all the literature corresponding to the topic. The use of non-invasive ventilation for severe cardiac conditions has significantly increased over the past few decades. This is a mechanical ventilation of the lungs, during which invasive artificial airway is not used and complications of invasive ventilation are avoided. Non-invasive ventilation is a beneficial tool in both chronic and acute respiratory failure. This paper presents the physiological links between the lungs and the cardiovascular system, describes the main methods of non-invasive ventilation, and their effects. The work also reviews the main cardiological conditions with respiratory failure occurrence encountered in the Cardiac care unit. Since invasive ventilation is still widely used in intensive care unit, this paper examines the conditions in which the use of non-invasive ventilation methods is appropriate, based on patient survival, length of stay in intensive care unit, changes in clinical signs and laboratory test results.
