Abstract [eng] The thesis examines media coverage of different regional conflicts. The coverage of the war in Syria and the war in Ukraine in Lithuanian and Italian online media are compared to a deeper understanding of how regional conflicts are framed in the countries belonging to the same geopolitical space. Based on the theoretical approach, four main features of media in the war were identified. Based on the theoretical assumptions and the concept of framing developed by R. M. Entman, a qualitative content analysis is conducted, and frames used to construct narratives about the war in Syria in 2013 and the war in Ukraine in 2022 are identified. The objects of the thesis are the most popular Lithuanian and Italian online media sources Delfi.lt and Repubblica.it. The analysis of media coverage in Lithuania and Italy revealed that a similar strategic approach is used to frame narratives of two countries belonging to the same geopolitical space. The differences in coverage mainly are related to highlighted details and the historical associations used to justify the strategic frame.
