Abstract [eng] |
The high turnover of employees in Lithuania raises the question – what actions organisations need to take to keep their employees. Employee job satisfaction and commitment to the organisation are two of the most important psychological factors that can help to find the right answer to the later question. Given the differences between public and private sector businesses, we believe that different factors may explain the commitment of employees in different sectors. In order to investigate which aspects of job satisfaction contribute to employees' commitment to the workplace, we have carried out a literature review and extracted the most relevant aspects of the constructs examined in this study. We then conducted a study with public and private sector employees and found that certain aspects of job satisfaction partly explain the relationship between job engagement and commitment to the organisation in the private sector sample, but in the public sector other mechanisms may explain the increase in commitment to the organisation. |
