Abstract [eng] Synthesis of monophasic SrAl4O7 doped with varying Eu2+ and codoped with Dy3+ ions was successful by solid state reaction method in a constant flow of nitrogen and hydrogen gas mixture in a quartz tube furnace. Purity of phase was estimated by XRD method and their luminescence properties were investigated using a spectrophotometer. All europium doped samples have an emission peak at 480 nm. 10 % Eu sample has the longest persistent luminescence duration comparing to other Eu doped samples but 2 % europium sample has the highest emission intensity so that was the chosen europium concentration for all dysprosium codoped samples. Sample codoped with 6 % of dysprosium has the highest emission intensity and an emission shift to 520 nm but the shortest persistent luminescence duration. While sample with 0.5 % Dy has the longest persistent luminescence duration and an emission peak at 480 nm. Using the acquired data colour coordinates for the sample were calculated and displayed on CIE 1931 colour diagram.
