Abstract [eng] |
Theme rationale: Employees often gives up to the temptation of disturbing stimuli in the work environment. Today's work environment is characterized by a fast pace and the expectation that an employee will always be available and will be completing tasks quickly. A modern office, a blinking mobile phone nearby and a head full of thoughts about personal problems, all this is the daily routine of most employees. It is very important to take a deeper look at where in the world of endless stimuli the attention of employees deviates during work and how this affects the well-being of the employee, as well as what methods employees know and apply to strengthen attentiveness at work. Knowing this, recommendations can be made for creating health-friendly workplaces, as well as recommendations for employees and their managers highlighting the importance and benefits of concentration in the work process and the employee's well-being. Work objective: To find the factors that distract attention in the work environment, their effect on well-being, and the applied methods that help maintain attention. Tasks: 1. To reveal external and internal factors distracting the employee's attention in the work environment. 2. To reveal how the circumstances at work affect the employee's attention. 3. To find out how distracting factors at work affect the employee's well-being. 4. Discover what methods employees take and what they think they could do to maintain attention at work. Research methods: A qualitative research method was chosen, a semi-structured interview type was chosen for data collection, and the data was analyzed using the content analysis method. Convenience sampling was used for the selection of participants. 8 office employees participated in the study, of which 7 were women and 1 was a man. Results and Conclusions: It has been observed that external distractions depend on the type of office, noise caused by colleagues and the printer was revealed among those employees who work in an open space office. Regardless of the type of office, phone calls and details of organization itself are distracting. Internal distractions arise for a variety of reasons and are not just work-related, but all are felt at work and distracts from work. It is difficult to concentrate if you are not feeling well, feeling hungry, lack of sleep, tiredness, or various thoughts. There are two types of situations in the work environment that weaken or strengthen focus attention. The time to return to the task after an interruption depends on who and for how long the attention is distracted, it can be quick or long concentration. When attention is distracted during intensive work, negative feelings arise for employees. Time lost due to distraction is made up for by rest time and this effects on employee well-being. The impact on well-being occurs through negative emotions, self-depreciation, guilt, and negative effects on physical well-being by increasing fatigue and stress. The most common methods used to focus attention are controlling the phone, using headphones and listening to music. Office workers know their weak points, because among the possible methods to apply, they revealed that stricter control of technology, working with themselves and observing discipline would help to focus. |
