Abstract [eng] |
Relevance of the topic. European countries strive to create inclusive and qualitative education for every European child, but in Lithuania, improving inclusion remains one of the main educational problems in general education institutions. Although inclusive education is the education of all children without exception in general education, and access to education for refugee children is considered a top priority, the child's right to education is not always guaranteed. Following the unexpected outbreak of the war in Ukraine in 2022, a large number of school-age war refugees arrived in Lithuania and needed to be enrolled in general education and their right to education to be guaranteed. Research problem. How is the educational process organized in progymnasium to ensure the right to education of war refugees? The object of the research is ensuring the right to education for war refugees in progymnasium. The analysis of scientific literature and documents, semi-structured interview, and content analysis of qualitative data were employed. The research sample consists of 26 informants working and studying at the X progymnasium: 21 adults and five war refugee children from Ukraine. Research results. War refugee children are provided with the conditions to socialise by including them in a general education institution together with other children, they are provided with the necessary psychological aid. However, the quality of education is compromised due to the language barrier and the limited capacity of the school to provide assistants for these children. |
