The main purpose of this master thesis is to assess the financial stability and determine the impact of COVID – 19 on it. The work consists of three main parts; the analysis of literature, the research and its results, conclusion and recommendations. Literature analysis reviews the concepts of financial stability given by different academics, analyses financial stability risks and spread channels as well as discusses financial stability evaluation issues. After the literature analysis the author has carried out the study of financial stability index in order to evaluate financial stability in Lithuania and find out the weight of COVID – 19 on financial stability. Based on literature analysis the financial stability indexes was established for chosen countries, a total of 13 indicators were included in purpose to define the macroeconomic, finance sector as well as international environment of each country which has been included into study. After evaluation of financial stability, the impact of COVID – 19 to financial stability was analyzed by using two samples test to find out if there is a significant difference between the indicators’ values before and during COVID – 19 pandemic. The performed research revealed that financial stability was slightly growing during analyzed period, the noticeable falls were as expected on Finance crisis as well as COVID – 19 pandemic. However, while Finance crisis had a major impact on financial sector, during COVID – 19 period most macroeconomic and international environments‘ indicators were affected. |
