Abstract [eng] The construction of leadership in the process of political communication: the case study of Gitanas Nausėda Leaders can emerge in various social groups, cultures or societies. They are essential for bringing people with the same beliefs together for a common purpose. There are no doubts that every country needs a man or woman who can successful lead a country, in other words – needs a leader. Presidents are very common research topic for scientist, but in political science, often through relationships with other institutions. In this master's thesis presidential leadership of Lithuanian president G. Nausėda studied through public performance and political communication. The main question is – what kind of leadership in the process of political communication is developing president G. Nausėda? The aim of the work is to define G. Nausėda’s leadership. Object – videos from Lithuanian president G. Nausėda social network “Facebook” account, published th th from 2019 May 26 until 2021 September 30 . Tasks: 1. After defining the term of the presidential leader, name the components of leadership; 2. After indicating the relationship of the presidential leader with the public performance and naming it’s elements, define relationship between president and political communication, identify ways of communication; 3. Analyse videos posted on G. Nausėda's “Facebook” account using multimodal discourse analysis; 4. After the research, based on E. Goffman's theory of dramaturgy, indicate how G. Nausėda performs the role of the president; 5. Based on J. Charteris-Black leadership communication model, find out how G. Nausėda, who plays the role of president in the process of political communication, develops his leadership and describe it. Speaking about the conclusions, foremost in the master's thesis defined that the president leader is the head of state, working with the audience, according to their values, is a unifying and mobilizing force of society, a legitimate authority whose opinion and languages affect the life of the state and its citizens. Secondly, find out that presidential leadership is inseparable from public performance and political communication. Elements of public performance are these: environmental decorations, personal facade decorations, symbols, symbolic gestures, artefacts. It has been argued that political communication can be verbal or nonverbal and president leader uses both of it. Thirdly, the research found that elements of all five modality groups were used in all videos, but three groups were most commonly captured: video, audio, and space. Fourthly, after analysing 81 videos, it was summarized that G. Nausėda played the role of president with a strained and had a serious face, was performing in the presidency, wearing a black suit (Vytis was embedded in the flap of the suit) and the Lithuanian and / or presidential flag in the background. Sometimes his wife D. Nausėdienė helped to perform. So, she was his team member in president performing. Ultimately, in terms of E. Goffman's theory of dramaturgy, G. Nausėda began to create president role in the behind-the-scenes region, where appropriate decorations for the facade and personal facade are prepared. Later, using verbal and nonverbal communication through the media (“Facebook”), he broadcast his performance to the audience, who was constantly watching and evaluating it. Speaking about G. Nausėda’s leadership, to perform the president role is not enough, political communication was also very significant and wasn’t his strongest point. It was noticed that G. Nausėda was passive and rarely published videos and did not always respond to the most important problems of the time. As a result, the leadership developed by G. Nausėda is described as passive and ignoring issues that do not impose on the president.
